We're not crazy.... Really!!!

We've been taking a lot of criticism lately.... but we're not crazy!!!

I took Sheba kitty to the vet Tuesday for a huge lump on her side... She had been seen 2 months ago, and we were told it was nothing to worry about.... This time, I was told, a malignant tumor!!! Bigger than a baseball!!! So, we had xrays & blood work done to ensure that her kidneys were okay, before we decided anything further.... So Tuesday night she went through surgery, and came out just fine.... Half her body is stitches though.... She is on antibiotics, and new prescription food... We go back Monday to have the drain removed....

So, why the criticism? Because she's almost 17 years old.... Everyone keeps saying that I should have just had her put down....

Well, guess what? Our cat, our money.... My cat is a fighter, and is no where near ready to be put to sleep....

What a great year 2009 was.... Praying that 2010 is even better....

It's been a month since I last updated.... Guess I've been a little busy.....
My 30th birthday has come and gone.... 30 is not that bad, really.... LOL....

We had a great Christmas.... Spent Christmas Eve with Scott's family, and my boss Mark joined us also.... Christmas Day was spent working, at the restaurant.... We had a buffet, with a great turn out....

New Years Eve was spent at home with a visit from the kids.... We did "Christmas" with them then.... I do believe we chose gifts that "made their days".... LOL.... New Years Day was spent again with Scott's family & the kids....

A quick update on everyone....

Scottie; is still in Florida... just recently started a new job, that he seems to enjoy and is paying well enough.... I'm sure he's not missing any of this snow at all....

Tony & Nikki; are doing well.... Even after Tony's accident on Christmas Day night.... He scared us all, but no major injuries & is healing well....

Rylin; is as cute as ever!!! and pooped in the big potty for the first time yesterday!!!!

Darren; is loving his job as a cook at the restaurant.... Tomorrow he will be moving back home for a few months.... It's a wise choice, with rent so high at his house, and the driveway about impassable at times.... We will enjoy having him at home....

Scott; is well.... Keeping busy cutting firewood... and helping the kids with car problems, etc.... He's had a great year at his job.... and is still loving it.... He works for some really great people.... He's been great about helping out around the house also.... What a great husband I have!!!

Myself; well.... I'm good.... No complaints.... Rice Bags are in demand right now.... and between the kids, restaurant, and the house I'm keeping busy.... I like it that way..... I'm still adjusting to "working".... it had been so long, 7 years to be exact.... So it will take a while to really adjust to everything.... I love who I work for & with.... Everyone is great.....

January seems to have jumped at us like a big 'ole lion.... BRRR.... Cold & very windy!!!! I'm on countdown for spring.... Can't wait to plant my garden & play in the flower beds.....

Well I must go.... still some housework to tackle this afternoon.... then I work later....

Here it's been another month and a half since I've been able to update.... Things have been BuSy around here....

November had come and gone.... Scott had a great 45th birthday.... We spent most of the day together.... I took him to Gander Mountain in Harrisburg.... I had to work in the evening, so he spent the time at home with family & friends celebrating his day.... Last Monday started Bear hunting.... Scott was 1 of 8 lucky Perry County hunters to "bag one" in county.... Thanksgiving was great.... I worked.... We held an All You Can Eat Buffet at the restaurant.... Scott, His Mom, & Sister came and enjoyed Mark's wonderful food....

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday... I was able to talk to him for a short time.... We'll talk again Friday (on MY BiRTHDay!!!!).....

Scottie is still in Florida.... Jobs are scarce, as they are everywhere.... He's hopeful about a call back he received.... He was able to spend the Holiday with some of his Mom's family.... I miss him terribly....

Tony & Nikki are doing well.... He's working when needed for our friend Jeff.... Rylin is doing great.... Such a little cutie....

Darren is doing GREAT!!! He loves his job at the restaurant.... He got his license back.... and now has 2 vehicles on the road.... His car, and a 4x4 truck that was given to us....

well, I must get off here.... I have a class for work on Monday, and I have yet to even open the book.... =)

I seem to have put my blog on the "back burner" since starting my job! There's just a ton to do, with such little time....

I did find a few minutes this week to shop for apples (for applesauce), and pumpkins & mums to decorate the front of the house....

Yep, that's a tiny bit of snow left on the ground.... Ugh, I'm so not ready for this.... We are burning in the wood stove, and it's nice & toasty inside.....

The housework at times seems to get away from me also.... Then I get a huge burst of energy, and it's done.... Scott helps where he can, most of his "to do" is outside, getting things ready for winter....

We were able to get the dog kennel up, Bear is officially off his logging chain.... He's still trying to understand the fence.... I went out yesterday and put a blue tarp over the top to keep him out of the nasty weather the best I can....

The garden is done for the year.... We will spend Monday evening digging potatoes, it is to be fairly nice and we'll both be home! I bought a bushel of apples, and plan to tackle applesauce at some point this weekend!!

Today is my sister in laws 50th birthday.... Happy Birthday Cindy!! Hope you enjoy your birthday!!

Well, I'm off for now.... I've got a few things to jump into before heading to work this afternoon!!

Yep, that's 11 years ago.... Scott & I were married....

We didn't tell anyone.... Went to the courthouse, got our marriage license.... and a few days later went into the local magistrates office with Scottie following behind (blindly).... We were married within a few minutes, and back home to continue our afternoon!

And guess what?

I'd do it all over, exactly the same way again.... Okay, maybe I would have changed one thing.... I would have liked to have had Tony & Darren with us also....

but, after 11 years things just keep getting better.... and life is great!!!!

Finally.....

I am really enjoying my new job.... I've always been such a people person, and now my personality gets to come out each and every day.... I am trying to get along with everyone that I work with.... I absolutely love my boss and his wife.... they're great people.... and working with Brian is great.... He is such a great kid....

Scott had been coming in on the weekends and tackling dishes for us, until the dishwasher gets fixed.... He is also still working long hours at work being the only service guy....

Home & garden have kind taken a back seat for a short time.... While I adjust to working again.... I might tackle some tomatoes after I'm done online.... I finished most of my housework this morning.... Laundry I will attempt Monday when it is bright & shiny out....

We have a few praises & a couple prayer requests....

Praise; Darren has finally gotten a job.... he is an assistant cook at the restaurant.... Today is his first day.... Brian is training him today....

Praise; Tony & Nikki have found a new place & are all settled in.... It's about 4 miles from here, right across the street from Scott's work....

Prayer; Scottie is not moving to Florida.... and I guess is looking for a place to live....

Prayer; All 3 of the boys are not getting along.... I am very upset about this, but not getting involved....

a working woman.....
LOL.... At 3:00 will be my first shift at the Little's Cafe, 4 miles down the road....

I'm a little nervous... I've never done this before.... I think if I get the 1st table "under my belt", I'll be okay.....

Scott and I went for breakfast this morning.... It was delicious..... I've spent the rest of my day cleaning & playing online.... Scott will stop by the the diner for supper tonight....

So I guess I better finish getting ready.... I have to pick up Brian on my way....

Scottie is looking to move to Florida within the next 2 months... please pray for him to make a smooth transition & find good work.... We will miss him, but this is what he feels he needs to do....

Darren is still looking for work.... He's been out almost a month now.... He's keeping his head above water barely... please pray for the right job to come along, and for him to keep an open mind....

Tony & Nikki are still looking for a place to live.... Their little apartment, is just to small... Rylin is growing everyday.... We pray to find them a place closer to us.... Nikki too is struggling with the possibilities of finding a job.... She loves being a stay at home Mom, I can see that she enjoys it....

I too am in the process of looking for a job.... I've got several applications out there....

Scott's job is going well, but now they are down a service man.... So please pray for patience on his end... and the strength to endure it day to day!

Starting over.... or so to speak!

Today was my last day to babysit Colton.... I will miss him greatly.... I've had him almost every day of his life since he was 1 month old, he'll be 7 in less than a month! He starts school on Tuesday.... 1st grade.... We spent all day yesterday at the pool, with Brian, Deb & TJ.... then after Scott came home from work, we hit up the county fair....

So now I am in between jobs... I have a few applications out.... So we'll see...

Meanwhile, I plan to CLEAN!!! I have a whole list started of things I want to tackle starting tomorrow.... I also plan to make new curtains for the living room... and start my rice bags for the cold weather.... I have lots of canning & freezing to tend to, and weeds to take care of in the flower beds.... I surely won't be "bored" LOL....

It's a wonderful morning here on the mountain.... The sunrise was stunning!! There was a slight chill in the air... and what do I see in my kitchen? Buckets of fresh tomatoes & green beans.... Straight from my garden....

This is my last week with Colton... He starts 1st grade next Tuesday.... I plan to go watch him get on the bus the 1st day... He's been bugging to stay overnight, so tomorrow night we will be having a 'slumber party'.... We plan to hit the local pool during the day w/ Deb & TJ.... then after Scott gets home we'll hit the county fair....

I've put a few applications in at a few local places.... No calls yet... We'll see.... I plan to make the most of being home alone during the days..... Curtains coming down & being washed, windows & screens washed.... Cupboards cleaned out.... Cobwebs tackled.... and maybe if I get a cool day, I'll reorganize the attic.... Plus lots of canning in between....

Sunday we finally made it to the flea market.... It was sooooo HOT..... We made a good amount of money, and hit walmart on the way home.... our first time in months..... Spent more than I had planned on, but Scott needed new work boots, and we bought new underclothes.... Also stocked up on sugar, & flour since I've been doing so much baking....

Well I need to jump off here, and head to the kitchen.... Lots to do today; canning, freezing, & cleaning..... and Colton should be here soon....

Honest I'm trying not to complain.... I always try to see the best in everything.... and right now I keep reminding myself that the tomatoes really really need this heat! Right now we have 91* in the shade w/ 92% humidity.... at least there is a breeze....

I've been busy again this week.... Finally got all the potatoes canned.... for now.... also made pickles, and froze more green beans & corn.... I dug up 1 potato plant just to see how they had grown.... they are NICE.... by fall they will be just wonderful!

I have also been kept busy in looking for a job.... 2 weeks till school starts.... I'd like to find something soon.... I don't need much in a job, just as long as it offers health insurance for us....

I did a bit of yard sailing on Friday.... Wasn't the best of days I guess, as I only found 4! I did come home with a new purse, shirt, small rolling pin, & glass tea pitcher.... Then we hit the local auction Friday evening.... spent $28.... most of which we will probably make back, as we picked up a few things to resell.....

Today has been filled with basic cleaning, and being lazy.... I do have a nice ham in the oven.... and potatoes & fresh sweet corn waiting.... I'll also make a batch of brownies.... We are celebrating Scottie's 23rd birthday....

Well guess I'm off to whip up these brownies.... Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

The sun is shining into almost every window in this house.... It's wonderful.... Possible chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, we'll see....

I've been so busy, I've neglected my BLOG. I apologize to my faithful readers....

Between the garden, housework, Colton, Farmtown (on facebook), and dinners with the kids I've been ON THE GO!!! I can't complain though, I am happy to be so busy... before we know it, winter will be here, and I'll be BoReD!!

The garden is doing wonderful.... Loads of tomatoes.... They'll be ready for canning soon.... Green Beans are plentyful... My first 2 rows are about done, by the weekend I'll pick the last beans off those plants, and have Scott till that area up... I hope to get some broccoli in for fall... Still lots of beans coming from the other 4 rows.... Potatoes are starting to die back.... I will leave them in the ground till fall.... I had only 1 pepper plant survive out of 3.... Not sure what happened.... but it is doing great....

We haven't had much tome for flea markets.... So the stuff is stacked nicely in the basement....

Sunday we finally got Scott's tuckey to the taxidermist.... It will be close to a year before we see the finished product.... It's nice to have it out of my freezer....

Last week, we got 1/3 of a beef from Scott's work.... it was a nice amount of meat.... we now have a full beef at the butchers. It's small (310lbs hanging weight), but we only have to cover butchering cost.... It was 1 of 2, that had gotten loose from a friends down the road... they had been out for 3 days.... we were told "shoot to kill".... They both came out into the clearing across from our property.... Scott shot & killed both, one shot each....

Had a 4 1/2 foot rattle snake killed down the road from our place last week.... It was given to Scott... He skinned it out, and is drying it w/ the rattles on....

We finally got the BiG wood pile split & moved into the crates.... Now as the weather gets cooler we can head back out into the woods for more.... We should have 6 cord or so before winter.... We were given a wood stove.... it is sitting in the garage right now, waiting for the oil tank & furnace to be tore out of the basement....

Well I gotta get myself motivated.... I've got about 150lbs of potatoes laying out front that I have to can this week.... I will get started on that today.... I also have some light housework to tackle, and zucchini bread to bake.... hmm, what's for supper?

Good Morning!! We have had a beautiful week (weather wise anyhow).... Here's a recap of the week....

Saturday, July 4th....
We started off the day with an early morning visit from Darren (our youngest).... He visited for a while, and left while we were heading out the door... We off to Spiral Path (local organic CSA farm, that we belong to)... they were having an "Open Farm Day", which was where we could pick raspberries, all the herbs you could imagine, flowers, & pick up extra produce.... Till we got there, the raspberries were picked clean.... It was a great time, we were able to meet lots of people... On the way out the road, we stopped by the amish grocery store to pick up "a few things".... I should know better than take Scott with me, but I did it anyhow, LOL....

After coming home, I tackled laundry & enjoyed hanging it out on the line.... I also cleaned & paid a few bills.... In the early afternoon we went raspberry picking.... First on our own property... then we decided to pick @ Scott's Mom's for her.... Surprisenly hers were not ready yet.... So we took a 4wheeler ride down the road, and found TONS of raspberries... It's a lot of work picking those little rascals... Scott dropped me off at the house, and he continued down the road for more picking.... I threw together 2 loaves of fresh zucchini bread and a batch of brownies (from scratch)....

We spent the evening at Scott's Mom's... a wonderful cookout & games of holey board.... I took the brownies & Scott's Sister, Cindy threw together a batch of homemade ice cream.... We then came home, and rounded out the day by watching the Nascar race, which of course Tony Stewart won!!!!

Sunday....
We had a slow start to the day.... Relaxing, watching t.v., playing online.... Once we got motivated there was no stopping us... Scott spent the afternoon splitting & stacking firewood, while I made a fresh batch of raspberry jam and canning potatoes.... Scott also fixed the starter in Kevin's truck....

Monday....
Back to the daily grind.... Colton was back from vacation.... I spent the day cleaning & canning potatoes.... Scott worked late (hay season)... We had moose steak & baked potatoes for supper....

Tuesday....
I spent the morning cleaning, while Colton played & watched t.v.... Then I took him to the neighbors to play.... While visiting with her, she gave me a gallon ziploc bag of fresh ham & bean soup....I came home & put it in the crock pot on warm, and that was supper... We invited Scott's Mom, sister, Ellie, & Brian down.... there was so much, LOL.... In the evening, Scott filled in the "sink hole" from our new drain lines & I weeded my flower beds & transplanted a few things.... We also had a Netflix movie, Nights In Rodanthe.... Very Good Movie... we enjoyed it....

Wednesday....
We had to be up early, 4am to be exact.... Scott had to be to work @ 5.... I stayed up and got my day started.... Laundry, dishes, feeding the animals.... I also did another canner of potatoes (w/ Brian's help)... and another batch of raspberry jam....Scott ended up having to work late, again.... So we had a "fend for yourself" night for supper....

Today (Thursday)....
I am tired this morning... but once I get motviated, I'll be alright... I have a bunch to do today.... Dishes, another load of laundry, vacuuming, bird cages, scrub the bathroom, weed more in the flower beds & a little in the garden.... I also have to finish planting the gladiola that I had to move due to the sink hole.... Maybe also a trip to town for some banking....

Well thank you for taking the time to read this morning.... I plan to upload a few new photos of my growing garen!!!

Wishing everyone a happy & safe 4th of July....

Thought I'd better give an update before I get to far behind....

Things are good here... The garden is growing nicely... Scott and I had the first 2 tomatoes on Sunday, they were supposed to be big ones, but they ripened at just bigger than a cherry tomato.... Oh so yummy.... I've gotten almost a quart of raspberries off the bushes I found in the hedgerow between us & the Old Man.... That was just the first picking... Lots more not ripe yet....

We've been eating lots of salads, with fresh lettuce, cucumbers, & tomatoes from Spiral Path (local organic farm we joined this year).... Yesterday I made 2 loaves of zucchini bread (yes I baked.... I know, such a shock), we only have 2 pieces left.... It was good!!!

We've been busy moving & re stacking firewood... We should have about 6 cord brought in before fall.... Makes me all warm inside, LOL.... We were given a wood stove... a nice one, just like Scott wanted.... So now we have to work on taking out the oil furnace & fuel tank....

Next week I've got to get busy canning potatoes... Our friend Kevin brought me about 200lb last week.... plus I have about 50lbs in the basement to use for cooking.... I hate all the peeling, but it's got to be done... I'll love it this winter....

Well that was my quick update... I'm off to get some housework accomplished.... I have a long list today.... Enjoy your weekend!!!

Good Morning....

Yesterday was the first beautiful day in a while.... No rain!!! I had so much planned inside, did the bare minimum and went outside.... Loved it so much that I forgot about supper until about 4:00.... then I was scrambling around to get something defrosted and cooking.... Last evening, we started moving the wood pile.... Hope to finish that this week....

Today is another gorgeous day..... I have a lot I want to get done.... reorganize & wipe out all the kitchen cabinets.... wash windows, inside & out.... clean out the bird cages.... wash my blazer.... and start washing down the outside of the house (by hand of course, we don't have a power washer... our house is small enough to get it done today)....

Guess I better plan supper this morning.... can't forget about it again....

Well I'm off here for now.... Gotta get my day started.... Make it a great one....

So anyhow.... I called my Dad already and wished him a Happy Father's Day... they were still sleeping, but they're up now.... LOL.... His card is in the mail, of course arriving late as I didn't have the money to get one earlier in the week.... poor planning on my part....

I made breakfast for Scott.... Scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage w/ country gravy, & fried potatoes.... We're still waiting on the kids to show up....

We're going to spend the day relaxing.... with the exception of getting dishes done....

Today I woke up before my alarm went off.... Not a whole lot to accomplish today.... So I took my time this morning.... Fed the animals, took the birds outside in their cages, cleaned up the kitchen, made our bed & tidied up the bedroom a bit.... Then I sat and played on the computer for a while....

Colton showed up while I was putting my latest Netflix movie in the mailbox to ship out.... Not long after, Scottie came up.... He spent the whole day here.... We played badminton, visited with the neighbor while Colton played with her daughter....

Scott left work early to head to another knee doctor appointment.... He was home by 2:00 and helping Scottie replace the power steering pump & belt.... After the car was fixed, Kevin stopped by and brought me 100lbs of potatoes (Scott's Mom and I will share these throughout the summer, I hope to get another 100lbs everyother week for us to can)..... Scott and I decided to play a game of badminton, Scottie & Colton did join in for a few serves.... While we were playing, Scott's Mom pulled in the driveway calling my name....

She had 8 quarts of beautiful strawberries on the seat of her truck.... We spent the next 2 hours making jam.... All during this, we ended up making arrangements for Colton to stay the night.... He's been bugging to, and his parents had other things going on.... So it was a perfect time for it.... He's now riding his bike without training wheels.... WOO HOO.... by tomorrow evening he'll be riding all over the place....

So as you can tell, not much really got "accomplished" around here.... but it was a great day anyhow....

Tomorrow is another day.... and since Colton is already here, I will get an early start to my day....

Sunday evening... and we feel accomplished!!!!

Friday evening;
We took Kevin out to supper for his birthday. Darren came along. We also stopped at Super Shoes for Darren and then WalMart for a few groceries. After coming home we settled in and watched the new Clint Eastwood movie 'Gran Torino'. What a great movie.

Saturday;
I spent a good part of the morning getting our new wireless router hooked up. Actually turned out to be easier than I thought. I also got all of my housework finished & all 5 loads of laundry done. Scott put his new brakes on the truck. Then Scottie's car broke down, so we headed out to help him. Fixed it temporarily. Came home in Nikki's car, so that her, Tony, & Darren could all head to NY with my Blazer to help their Mom & StepDad with more concrete. Till we got back, Kevin had taken our truck and came back with a big load of mushroom soil for me. I spent the rest of the evening playing in the garden. While Scott mowed the grass. Finally came in at about 9:15. Had a nice veggie salad for supper, then a nice warm shower.

Today (Sunday);
I did a little more housework,made breakfast for Scott & Scottie(he's been here all day to visit), made 2 loaves of homemade bread, & finished the garden (with Scottie's help). Supper was baked chicken & corn along with more of the veggie salad & homemade bread. Scott finished mowing the grass & also went up the road to pick up a free concrete bird bath for me.

This week I plan to work in the flower beds more (it's a never ending process), clean out my kitchen cubboards, scrub the hard water stains out of the tub & washer, and re~arrange my office (again).

Well I'm off to water the garden, then relax until morning. Thanks for reading, have a great week!

Well here's our garden.... the tomato plants are looking a bit straggly due to the cooler temps & soooo much rain.... they'll perk up come July.... The potatoes & green beans are rather loving this weather....

This is the smallest garden we've ever planted... it feels weird, but with only the 2 of us here, not so much is needed.... plus we joined Spiral Path (an organic produce farm)...

We spent a couple of hours cleaning our garage today.... I took all our flea market items to the basement since it stays dry now.... Scott organized his tools, etc just the way he wants them.... then this evening we went to his Mom's and brought his big Snap On tool box home (for the first time in 12 years).... The garage looks a lot better.... still needs a little "tweaking", but much better than before....

We also watched the race this afternoon.... which we had to watch online, since I downgraded our dish network package, we don't get TNT & ESPN.... we actually enjoyed watching it online more.... we could choose in car camera's, around the track, the lead, etc.... or we could split the screen into 4.... it was great....

Okay, so not so much in my own personal weekend....

But for my favorite Nascar driver & my favorite Survivor contestant.... Saturday night Tony Stewart won the All Star Race in Charlotte NC and walked away with being only the 2nd owner/driver in history to win the million.... Then last night J.T. got all 7 votes from the "jury" members to win the million from Survivor, then also won the $100,000 most popular fan vote....

All in all we did have a pretty good weekend....

Friday night we went out to eat @ Fire Mountain with Kevin....

Saturday I went to the grocery store, rest of the day was spent at home... I did the basics; housework, laundry, etc... Scott fixed Darren's car & mowed the lawn.... In the evening we had Chad & Jess over.... Kevin was here too.... Invited some others too, but got no answer.... We had a great dinner & time visiting... Then we watched the race....

Sunday was a lazy day.... We spent most of our time in front of the t.v. Although we did manage to get the freezers switched around (all the food from the freezer in the garage moved to the freezer in the basement).... and we did go to Hit & Run (little store down the road).... We wanted something to snack on.... Pizza & Chips were on the "menu".... Ha Ha.... We then watched the Survivor Finale....

Now it's Monday, and the start of another great week.... Weather is to be wonderful.... I have a lot I want to get done this week....

A whirlwind Mother's Day....

I honestly was not being "lazy" in my writing.... I just couldn't.... My Mom and I made plans for me to fly out to Kentucky for a 4 day visit, so that meant everything I did last week was in preparation for the trip....

I left here early Thursday morning, and arrived in Lexington @ 10:15 AM.... my Mom was at the airport to pick me up.... We surprised my sister @ work, and my niece @ school.... Saturday was my sister's baby shower, so we spent the rest of the time Thursday & Friday getting ready for that.... It turned out quite well.... Sunday was Mother's Day.... All 3 of my boys called me.... It was nice to spend the day with my Mom & Sister (the 1st in years).... My plane then took off Sunday night @ 6:30.... I was back in Harrisburg by 9:30 PM.... Scott was so happy to see me.... I missed him too.... We went out to eat, then finally home at about 11:30 Pm....

Monday was back to normal.... I did a few things.... laundry, dishes, vacuum, dust.... We had left over beef/veggie soup for supper.... After supper, I took the leftovers up to Scott's Mom & Brian (it had to get eaten up).... then Scott tilled the garden, while I picked rocks.... Darren & Garret stopped by, and helped rake the rocks out....

Today was a busy day.... I had invited all the kids up for supper, spaghetti & meat balls.... Usually I make my sauce with the packets of Mrs. Wages spices.... well I was out.... So I had to research how to really make it from scratch.... It turned out really nice.... I also made the meatballs, cleaned the bathroom, the cat box, vacuumed, folded laundry, then went to work in the garden.... I planted 2~ 25' rows of potatoes (Brian hilled them for me), 21 tomato plants, 3 pepper plants, & a 20' row of red beets.... It was a great day....

So, that's why I was "quiet" for a few days....

Wow, an update...

Yes, that's right... I'm here giving an update... The weather has been absolutely beautiful, and we have taken full advantage of it...

My washer was moved upstairs this past week... Tonight it might be usable, we'll see... I've been going to Scott's Mom's to wash laundry...

I got our picnic table stained... it's needed it for about a good 6 years, but we just never did it... So last week, we splurged for a $7 can of redwood stain @ WalMart... I did the 1st coat on Friday, & Brian helped me with the 2nd & 3rd coats yesterday... Now it looks beautiful... I may just do my clothesline posts too, since I have extra...

My garden is finally tilled up... it's about 20x25 this year... I have to workat it this week & get a lot of the rocks picked out, so Scott can till it again, then we'll get a load of mushroom soil to till in... then I'll start planting... I'm going easy this year, since we have joined Spiral Path Organic Farm. I am planting 40(ish) tomato plants, a couple pepper plants, green beans, and maybe a row or 2 of potatoes(which I need to get in this week). I am also planting Mammoth Sunflowers on the outer edge of the garden (1 side)... My basil plants need to be transplanted into bigger pots (which I may do today)... I also have morning glories to get started, & hosta & gladilous to get in the ground...

Yesterday the whole yard was mowed, Scott was out for about an hour & half total... but he truely enjoyed himself... We both LOVE our new mower... We also moved the dog farther out back, due to the sun & heat... Now he is under a nice big pine tree, shade all day and even nicer when it rains, he's protected... Just a little farther from the house, but he'll get used to it...

Speaking of Bear, Friday him & I went for a walk around our property... If we walk it 5 times, it makes a mile... Saturday we walked up to Scott's Mom's... she's 5 houses up, not quite a 1/4 mile away, but it is up hill... and for some reason Bear felt the need to want to RUN... why at his age he'd want to run up hill, I'll never know... I did run for a short time, then held him back to walk...

Here it's been almost a whole week since I last updated. After I promised to tackle this more often. I do apologize, with all the nice weather I've been outside more, spending less time on the computer.

I finally tackled the garage Friday. I was tired of looking at it, & I understand that Scott is strapped for time. So it took me an hour & a half to finish it. Now I have a parking spot for my new mower, & I can actually walk on the floor to get to the freezer. WOO HOO.

We also organized the attic last week. All I have left to do is empty some canning jars of old food. Maybe today, we'll see. Ha Ha.

We had a great weekend. Saturday, Scott had to work, so I went to the little flea market up the road. Made a few $'s. Sunday morning we headed out to Williams Grove flea market. It was "slim pickens" due to the Holiday, but we still made out pretty good. In the afternoon, we were at Scott's Mom's for Easter dinner. His sister, brother in law & niece from northern PA were down. We had a wonderful time, & ate way to much of course.

I've been a little lazy recently about my writing. I promise to get back to it more regularly. Really I do, ha ha.

We've had a pretty good week so far.

Sunday we had out first time for the season @ the Williams Grove Flea Market. Started out kind of COLD, but turned into a beautiful day. I ended up with a sunburned face. Made a good amount of money. After we came home, I was able to use my brand new clotheslines. WOO HOO. Then to make an already GREAT day even better, I got to mow. Using our NEW MOWER! So much FUN! We also had great visits from Darren & Scottie.

Monday was Scott's doctors appointment in Hershey. He has another in 2 weeks for a full MRI. After we came home, not much got done. We were so tired from the whole weekend, and then the trip, etc to Hershey. I did make supper; venison butterfly steaks w/ sauteed mushrooms & melted cheese, & mashed potatoes w/ gravy.

Tuesday was back to normal. Work, Colton, etc. Not to much exciting. Supper was a nice beef roast, done slowly in the oven all day, with a wonderful garden salad.

Today, again back to normal. Accomplished loads of stuff. Dishes, sparkly clean bathroom, vacuumed out whole room, took the dog for a nice run, lots of laundry, HUNG OUT. Made a wonderful supper using the leftover beef roast from last night. I shredded it up, sauteed mushrooms, made mashed potatoes, & gravy; then just piled it all on our plates. YUMMY! After supper we went for a 4~wheeler ride in the woods to feed the deer, then to Scott's Mom's for a quick visit. We came home & straight to the attic. It needed cleaned & organized. We have a great sell pile for the flea market this weekend. Now we are relaxing watching Ghost Hunters.

Tomorrow is supposed to be the nicest day of the week. I plan to take full advantage of it. windows open, laundry out on the line, & a nice walk. So enjoy your Thursday, make it a great one. Thanks for reading.

April Showers Bring May Flowers.

We are starting the month out right. Rain coming today. We do need it, so I will not complain.

I have the flower beds all cleared out, & flowers are popping up already. We hope to get a garden area tilled this coming week, & I may actually get clotheslines this weekend. I'm SO excited.

I will start going to the flea market this weekend. I'm going to the little one in Port Royal. It will be a few weeks before we start the big one. I'm rather excited about that too. (I'm so easily entertained).

Monday Scott has a doctors appt with a knee specialist. They are talking knee replacement. We'll see.

Had some great visits with the boys. Tony & Nikki were up Sunday, along with Darren. I made a nice meal of pork loin roast, mashed potatoes, & gravy. It was a good time. Monday Scott & I were by ourselves for dinner. We had broiled steaks & a nice garden salad. Yesterday Scottie came up in the morning. Visited a little & took a load of firewood home. For supper I had a table full, Scott & I, Darren, & Jeff & TJ were here. I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, & lima beans. Chocolate cake for dessert.

Well, guess I should get motivated to get something done. Ha Ha.

I just haven't felt like it though. Isn't that horrible.

We purchased a new mattress & box spring last weekend. I've finally gotten used to it. Took a little while since we went from a mattress where you'd sink right in, to one that's like laying on the coffee table. Ha Ha.

I had a "date" night out with Deb last night. Since she started her 2nd job, I've not seen much of her. She's spread pretty thin between her family, work, & the barn. So it's nice when I do get to see her. We went out to eat at the Olive Garden, then a little shopping @ Marshalls & WalMart.

We had some rain yesterday, which was nicely welcomed. Today it's to be beautiful. I plan to go out & finish working in the flower beds. Maybe also go for a walk after Colton goes to school.

Well this might be short, but again I'm still not into writing for some reason.

A couple weeks ago one of our favorite shows, Survivor, started on t.v.

I had our DVR set to record. So anyhow, a few days later, we sat down to watch it. It wasn't there. I was not happy, I thought I had accidentally deleted it. Oh well. We moved on, watched it the next week & pretty much caught up.

So fast forward to today. Colton asks me if I still have the movie Over the Hedge in my DVR. I sit down to look through, and at the very end of the list there it was, Survivor!!! It didn't register a date when it recorded, so it landed at the very end of the list.

Ugh. LOL. So we are watching it now, a little late, but oh well.

Loving Daylight Savings Time....

Finally, I am getting used to the time change. I am feeling better every day. LOL. When I wake up daylight is just breaking when I look out my kitchen window, toward the mountain.

I am on week 2 of my "diet". I am basically just watching my calorie intake daily, exercising daily, & not eating after 7 at night. It is working out quite well. I feel much better. Guess that's all that matters.

We worked all weekend on bringing in firewood. Total of 16 pick up truck loads in, and unloaded. Scott & Darren cut & loaded the truck. I unloaded every truck load. What a great workout. Now I know what Scott likes about doing this on a regular basis. LOL.

The rest of this week, I will spend time out in the garage. It has not been touched since we moved in when things got thrown in. It needs organized. I will also spend time in the attic cleaning up. I want to get started on heading out to the flea markets, and I know there are some things both in the garage & the attic. So this will kill 2 birds with 1 stone. LOL.

Well anyhow, I am off to get some laundry finished up, and clean up the basement. Have a great one.

I promise. LOL. The bathroom has come along great. It is done, with the exception of the closet.

Scott has gotten back into cutting and gathering fire wood. That is something he enjoys. I'm not sure why, but hey I don't understand everything, LOL.

I am still trying to reclaim my house. The office is still being used as bathroom storage until the closet is finished.

This weekend we have a mini vacation away from home. We are headed to N.Y. for Lauryn's 1st birthday. (For those of you who don't know who Lauryn is, she is the boy's baby sister. This will be Scott & I's first time meeting her, and seeing Darlene & James' new house). So exciting. Also while we are there, we will be going for dinner with Shannon & Bryan & their children. I am so excited. I haven't seen her in almost 2 years. 4 more days.

Okay folks... I know to some people "a shower" is just a typical everyday thing.... but I'm telling ya what... 5 months ago we moved into this house, with no shower.... We've had baths, baths, & more baths.... LOL.... Yesterday I got the 1st official shower in our new bathroom.... It was the best ever....

Last night we put the border up, started trim, medicine cabinet & the toilet paper holder, & towel racks.... It's really coming together nicely.... I LoVe it....

We had a wonderful meal this evening prepared by Scott's Mom; pork loin, mashed potatoes, & peas. YUM. Then it was back to work, LOL.

I can. LOL. I am so tired. We quit early this evening. The closet is gone, all the "pink/peach tile" is gone, the carpet is GONE. WOO HOO.

Tomorrow I have to go over the floor with a flat edge shovel to finish scraping the old backing off the floor. When Scott gets home he should be able to start the water pipes & rip out the sink.

As most of you know, we have started out bathroom project. So right now, we have no tub or shower & no sink in the bathroom. We are taking showers @ Scott's Mom's, and washing hands & brushing teeth in the kitchen. I'm so excited to have it DONE. But it will take time. Scott has only nights to work on it.

My whole house looks like a construction zone. In my living room, I have 6 - 4x8 sheets of bead board, my shower faucet, and tools. My kitchen has 7 - 10' pieces of CPVC pipes, painting acc's, tools, & the sink faucet. The office is filling up quick. The shower walls are standing in there, and today I have the job of cleaning everything else out of the bathroom. And the bathroom, well we wont even go there. LOL. the new tub is standing on end in the corner, the one window is about torn out, the wall "linolium" is about ripped out, etc... etc....

Today is Scott's Mom's birthday. She is 71. We had a small dinner for her last night. I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, & a spice cake. Darren took the leftovers home.

Had an interesting weekend.
Friday evening we stayed home, had baked mac & cheese w/ broccoli & chicken, then I worked on our taxes. I'm glad they're done.
Saturday; Scott worked, and I went to Jeff & Deb's to clean. Got a lot done there. Then we went shopping. Hit the Goodwill, 2 grocery stores, & the Family Dollar. Scott & I met up at the boys' house around 5ish. Scottie's car was stuck 1/2 way up the driveway. We were there about 4 hours, Scott worked with the skidloader & was able to make it so they could get up.
Sunday; I was home all say. Didn't feel well. Scott & Brian were out in the woods cutting firewood. In the early afternoon, Scottie came up and visited with me. Brought up the paper (with the coupons for me). For the superbowl, Scott hung with the boys @ their friends house. I was home, and Brian came down. He watched most of the game with me, then had to leave. I am not happy with the turn out of the game, but hey. Ya can't win them all. LOL.

So anyhow. Today is Monday, and I feel a ton better than yesterday. I had Colton most of the day. He was gone from 10:45 ~ 3:45 for school. I ran to the amish store for a few things. Also did laundry, and some light housework.

Also, I am asking for some prayers for Darren & Tony. They are both out of work right now. Tony is able to get unemployment. Darren is not. So please remember them in prayer.

In this house, we drink RAW milk. EVERYDAY. Have for many, many years. It's the only milk we enjoy. I do not have my own dairy cow, but an Amish neighbor does, and is willing to sell. We love it. Also; in this house, RAW eggs. LOL. Heaven forbid that eggs not come from the store. I can't even eat eggs from the store. Makes me want to vomit!!! How do you know how long they've been sitting somewhere? I prefer to know that my eggs are less than 12 hours old.

Before you know it, you'll go to jail for raising your own garden. Well, I'm sorry. We're not stopping. The Fresher The Better!!!!

That's what we woke up to today. I shoveled our sidewalk this afternoon, & Scott shoveled out the mailbox run when he came home from work. After supper, we were in the living room watching t.v. when a Dodge truck w/ a plow pulled up & plowed out our driveway. We guessing it's Denny (the guy we're buying the house from).

So anyhow, I've had a boring couple of days. I've only had Colton once this week, and that was Monday morning. So I've gotten a lot of housework done, and some relaxation.

We've had some pretty good meals this week so far.... Monday; Chicken & Dumplings over french fries. Tuesday; Fried potatoes, fried boneless pork chops, & sauteed mushrooms. & tonight was an easy meal of beef & noodles hamburger helper.

Tomorrow as long as the roads are good, I'm headed to Deb's for some cleaning.

So anyhow, we are relaxing... watching Ghost Hunters International.... and are headed to bed soon.

How much can one family take?

A local family that we know is need of our prayers.

Thursday Bonnie was involved in a "horse accident", where a horse was tied to a gate.... got spooked... ran.... the gate went with.... & Bonnie was hit straight on in the face with the gate.... She goes this week for re constructive surgery.....

Early this morning Bonnie's husband, Rob, lost his son to a fire.... He was an adult... but that doesn't lessen the pain & sorrow.... His mobile home went up in flames and he was unable to escape...

So please if you can, remember this family tonight & over the next few days.... They are a good family....

I am soooo glad it's Friday. Guess I can't complain to much, this week has been fairly decent. With the exception of yesterday. The weather has been warming up this week, and today we could see close to 50*, and lots of sunshine.

Tuesday Evening; Tony & Nikki brought Rylin up & we did some sledding. A couple hours, then we called it quits due to the wind. (I did post photo's, I'm sure most of you have seen those).

Wednesday; I did a lot around the house, and Scott came home early from work (4:00). After Colton left, we went to Loysville for supper, gas, & bread. Then home for relaxing.

Thursday; We were up @ 2:00A.M. and getting things ready for Scott to head to work. He pulled out of the driveway @ 2:40, and I went back to bed, way to early to stay up for the day. So anyhow I got up to face the day @ 6ish. An early morning visit from a neighbor ruined my whole day @ that point. He told me that our "friend" Kevin was in jail. As we talked on the porch, somethings came out about what Kevin has been saying to people, at that point I was "seeing red". So anyhow, my day "sucked" after that. Colton left early. Scott didn't get home until 8:30P.M. We talked for a while about the days "events", bed at 10:00P.M.

Today; I'm so glad it's Friday. Scott is getting ready to head out to work now. I will have Colton today, and he has school (he's gone from 10:45 ~ 3:50). I have some things to accomplish today. ~make a few phone calls ~dishes ~laundry ~vacuum the whole house ~bird cages ~clean off the front porch. We may go over to Scott's bear hunting buddies tonight for a cook out. We'll see....

Well I'm off here for now. Have a great weekend. Cold weather on it's way back.

Today @ Noon, our Nation will be changed forever....

We need to prepare for the worst.... Pray, stock up on everything, keep cash on hand not in the bank, garden if you can (learn to if you have no idea how), can or freeze everything you can get your hands on.... We need to learn to be as self sufficient as possible!

Scott and I are doing all we can to be prepared... We're not taking any chances....

I have had a very productive day. Which is very amazing to even myself, since I woke up so TIRED today. I've....

washed & dried 2 loads of laundry (including our sheets),
scrubbed the whole bathroom,
changed around some items on our dressers,
scooped the cat box,
put the dog back outside since it warmed up so nice,
vacuumed the whole house,
washed dishes twice,
and, I've even had Colton all day.

This evening we are heading over to Darren & Scottie's for supper. Darren says he's making "breakfast" for supper. I am hoping to remember my camera to get some photo's of their house.

Saturday; Scott worked of course. I was home all day, doing basically nothing. At 3:30 I met him @ his work, and we left for the P.A. Farm Show. It was free for us. We drove his boss' truck, & free admission. I even left with a free poinsettia that fills my kitchen table. Then his boss took us out for supper @ KFC. We were home by 8:30, settled in and rented a movie off of PPV.

Sunday (today); We slept in a little, 8:00. I did my normal morning routine, then I relaxed and watched a Lifetime movie. By 10:30 we were ready and out the door, heading to a local auction. We got there and they weren't letting anyone in yet, so we killed time by going out for an early lunch. Our favorite little pizza place had just opened for the day. Cheeseburgers & large fries was our lunch. We stopped and picked up a Sunday paper (gotta have those coupons), by then they had opened the doors @ the auction. There was SOOOOO much stuff. Everywhere you looked, STUFF. We spent a little more than what we had budgeted, but there was a few things that we can resell, and make our money back plus some. My "prize" for the night is an antique oil lamp. BEAUtiful!!!! and for only $11.00. So anyhow, we were then invited to Tony & Nikki's for supper. Oh my, let me just tell you.... that girl can COOK. She made stuffed shells. YUMMY.... We had a great visit with them.

Now we are home, relaxing, and watching football. Back to the grind tomorrow. I will have Colton all day, no school.... Hoping to go to Scottie & Darren's for supper... I have to call them...

This cold winter weather has me craving soup all the time. Yesterday I made homemade tomato soup. It was okay, but needs a little tweaking. I'll master it next time. Today is beef veggie simmering on the stove. I've been "stealing" spoonfuls every time I walk past, LOL.

This week has been nicely productive for myself. Monday of course I tore the house apart and put it all back together again. Yesterday I finished the office. Finally for the 1st time since we've moved in, it is in order. Scott hung my shelves up, so I was able to display my Stephen King books the way I wanted to. We've had some great meals this week....

Tuesday: Baked Chicken Breast, with baked potatoes & corn...
Wednesday: Spaghetti & Meatballs & homemade bread (sauce & meatballs were both homemade)
Thursday: Homemade Tomato soup & Toasted Cheese

YUMMY...

I am hoping to get some photo's uploaded here soon. Blogspot has been giving me issues with that.

House is done..

Yesterday I worked hard at getting this whole house done. It's so nice now. No longer do I feel like the walls are closing in. I do have a few little things to finish in the office, but I'm waiting on Scott to hang another shelf.

So, since I did all that work yesterday I had nothing to do today. 1 load of laundry, a few dishes, made egg salad. I have chicken breast, baked potatoes, & corn going for supper. On a down side I have one of the biggest headaches I've had in awhile. Not sure why.

While supper is finishing Scott is off to feed his deer & bring in the memory card out of his trail camera. He loves to do that, and to be honest, I really enjoy riding out there with him & seeing all the photo's when we get back.

Tonight I think I'll settle in and read.

Well here it is Sunday morning....

Thought I'd be happier than I am.... but the game last night, kinda ruined that.... the Panthers couldn't play their way out of a paper bag.... really it was that bad.... but hey, whatever.... their season is over.... Now I don't care who wins any of the games....

But anyhow.... I went to the grocery store Friday.... they had a few good sales, and the weather forecast didn't look good for the weekend.... So I went, bought what was exactly on my list, had coupons for everything.... still spent $18..... I made a wonderful venison stew & homemade bread for supper that night.... YUMMY..... then we went out on the 4wheeler to feed the deer & change memory cards in the trail camera.... (we won't talk about Brian scarring the crap out of me, LOL)...

Saturday.... we lazied around most of the morning.... then we started baths (takes time when there's 2 of us) , then Darren came up..... We had to go to Scott's mom's.... Scott worked on her computer (it runs a lot faster now, and better stay that way).... it was a fun time up there.... anyhow, back home..... Darren and I went to the garage to the freezer.... and Scott started the charcoal in the grill.... we made steaks & seasoned potatoes.... again, YUMMY.... played Monopoly (the here & now version).... and watched football.... then my game came on.... Kevin & Scottie showed up about the same times.... I won't talk about the game, since I already did....

Now today is Sunday.... I've fed the animals, and have laundry started.... I have dishes, vacuuming, & dusting to do.... maybe I'll get motivated soon.... I should one of the boys or Kevin & have them grab me a newspaper.... I want coupons....

Day 7.... How's your resolution coming?

We're doing awesome on our resolution.

I am researching a lot on ways to get free food, toiletries, cleaning products, etc.... I've been going to individual "name brand" web sites requesting coupons, free samples, etc.... (just learned about doing this today).... I do need to find out if our local stores will accept printed coupons.... *if anyone has any other tips, please let me know*....

I have started getting our milk fresh, through an amish neighbor.... for $1 / 1/2 gallon.... which saves me $1 each time as compared to buying it at the grocery store....

We are also considering downgrading the dish programing & the phone features.... Not sure, we'll see.....

But I am HAPPY that the Eagles won today.... I needed them to win so that they would move on to play the Giants & I (the Panthers) would move onto the Cardinals.... and that happened today....

So next Saturday the Panthers will take on the Cardinals.....

New Years Resolution....

Did you set one?

We did....

We succeeded with last years & will continue with it.... Which was to eat & live healthier.... We've cut out most "junk".... I cook mostly from scratch.... switched to sea salt.... eat smaller portions.... drink a lot of water.... take a multi vitamin every day.... I would like to start exercising more this year....

Our main 2009 resolution is to live by our strict monthly budget.... We sat down last night and got it all set up.... right now there is no extra spending.... if we want something that's not included in our budget, we will write it on a "wish list" on the fridge.... let the item on the list for 10 ~ 14 days, and re~evaluate "do we really need this?" if the answer is YES then we will save the money for it.... if the answer is NO, then we're not out anything....

Today I went through all the cupboards & freezers and documented everything we have.... I couldn't believe the amount of food we actually have.... I have set a budget of $50 a month for food.... which should be plenty, with cooking from scratch, eating less, and eating straight from what we have.... I could also save a little extra by getting milk from the farm again.... I might look into doing that again....

So anyhow for those of you who have set resolutions & goals.... Good Luck....

Hard to believe it's Jan 1, 2009. WOW, where did 2008 go?

We've had a busy couple of weeks. Seems I've been in a vehicle for 2 weeks straight. LOL. Between shopping for the holidays & traveling to see my family in Kentucky. Which by the way was a great time. Scott & I each got a new tattoo, my sister does them. We LOVE them. Had a great time playing my Mom's new Wii. And I got to spend time with my 2 nieces. It was a quick trip, wish we would have had more time.

Now we are back home. And I am just as tired. LOL. I shopped Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday for CHRISTmas gifts for my boys. Then cleaned my butt off, getting ready for our CHRISTmas with the boys. Scottie never showed up, which upset us, but hey life moves on. So New Years Eve was great. We had WAY to much food, of course. Darren & Tony were VERY happy with all their gifts. Tony, Nikki, & Rylin stayed the night. By 12:30 we were all in bed & asleep.

Today, we "relaxed" this morning. Then went to Scott's Mom's for lunch. WAY to much food again, go figuare. We hung out for a while, Brian played the piano for us. After we came home, Darren & Scott fixed Darren's car, and I started cleaning. Vacuumed, laundry, cleaned bird cages, dishes, & wrote out our 2009 budget. Now we are relaxing, and watching t.v.

Tomorrow I will pay a few bills. Make a few phone calls. Combine 2 freezers into 1, to save electric. I will track everything that's in the freezer, cubboards, and on my canning shelves so I know what I need to buy & stock up on. I'll also have Colton tomorrow.

Can't believe it's that time of year again.... Where does the time go.... I finished our Christmas shopping Saturday.... WalMart was CRAZY.... I'll never do that again (wait, yeah I probably will.... LOL).... I still have my 3 boys to finish, but we will be doing Christmas with them on New Years Eve....

We're getting last minute things together for our trip.... For those of you who don't know, Scott & I are headed out to Kentucky to spend the Holiday with my family.... We leave tomorrow night, and will be home on Sunday....

We celebrated "early" with Scott's family.... Yesterday we had a "nontraditional" Christmas lunch and a great time of visiting.... We had Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Green Bean Casserole.... Ginger Cake & Pumpkin Pie for dessert.... MMmmmm GOOD.....

So anyhow, until I write again.... Have a very Merry CHRISTmas....
